Kangaroo facing terrorism charges after mowing down a cyclist

A kangaroo is set to face serious terrorism charges after the marsupial mowed down a cyclist on a Queensland road near Boonah in south-east Queensland on Australia Day.

Terrifying video footage has emerged showing the moment when the kangaroo sped across the double white line road before striking the female rider, then speeding away into the countryside.

A spokeswoman from Queensland police described the incident as a “barbaric act of terrorism” after initial investigations revealed the marsupial may have carried out a planned terror inspired attack.

Police had initially suspected the kangaroo was taking part in Invasion Day protests. But fresh evidence has emerged that found the rogue marsupial has links to Jemaah Islamiyah, a Southeast Asian militant Islamist rebel group who are known to incite terrorist acts abroad.

Reports say the woman rider suffered a shoulder injury after the collision but is understood to make a full recovery.

The kangaroo is being held in police custody with a court date pending.
